GARSTANG SUCCESSFULLY RENEWS FAIRTRADE STATUS
GARSTANG has successfully renewed Fairtrade Town status for two years, following its ongoing commitment to promoting Fairtrade principles.
Garstang, the world’s first Fairtrade Town, was first awarded the Fairtrade status in 2001 in recognition of the strong support for Fairtrade within the town, and the achievement of five qualifying goals, such as a wide availability of Fairtrade products in local shops and catering outlets, high levels of support from local people, businesses, the council, faith groups and schools.
Mary Cammack, Spokesperson for the Fairtrade Town Steering Group, said
"Thank you to everyone who is involved in Fairtrade in any way whatsoever. We have renewed our Fairtrade status with /FT Foundation, who are particularly complimentary of our pledges and work with schools. Well done to all! "
